Two guests and Deer Manager - 2-1 basis.
Full day or morning and evening for 1 x hind and/or calf Red/Sika or Roe doe per rifle - conditions dependant.

Red Stag Stalking (15 Jul - 20 Oct):
Cull stag (up to and including 8 points) £650 per stag.
Representative stag (9 points and over) £850 per stag.
Full day or morning and/or evening.
Note: Should there be a blank (which in the case of a double rifle party means that both rifles have a "blank"), the outing fee of £375 only will apply.
Sika Stag Stalking (15 Jul - 20 Oct):
Cull stag (up to 4 points) £400 per stag.
Representative stag (6 points and over) £550 per stag
Each outing is c.4hrs morning or evening.
Note: Should there be a blank outing, the outing fee of £175 will apply.
Roe Buck Stalking (01 Apr - 20 Oct; rut late Jul & early Aug):
Representative buck - 6 points £400

The Immersive Package (Hind Management) - (available Oct 21 - Feb 15) - £2000 per person
5 days with our Deer Managers (Mon-Fri) Oct 21-Feb 15
Full days or morning and/or evening (weather and scenario dependant).
Experience all the differing environments, topography and species available (weather dependant).
Participants should be physically fit.
Note: we will aim for c.5-7 cull animals during the week, weather dependent and at the discretion of the Deer Manager based on management plan/objectives.
The Estate Stalking Package (01 Apr- 31 Aug) - £1200
2 days cull Roe buck stalking with our Deer Managers - morning and evening (weather dependent). We will aim for 2-4 cull animals.
Designed for a 2 rifle party (2-1 basis). An opportunity to spend quality time connecting with a friend or loved one and experience some of Scotland's unique landscape.
Experience the differing environments from open hill to native broadleaf.
Additional days can be added at £600 per day (inc two additional cull animals).
The Novice Package (01 Apr- 31 Aug or 21 Oct-15 Feb) - £575 per person
A 2-day introduction to deer management including range based training, deer management theory, culminating in at least two instructional based field outings under the close guidance of a Deer Manager.
Designed for 1 person on a 1-1 basis. Please contact us for groups.
The guest will be guided through the core fundamentals of deer stalking including post-shot game handling.
Includes use of an Estate rifle and ammunition.

This 4 hour experience includes time on our rifle range, gaining familiarity with deer legal firearms, the use of an estate rifle and ammunition, as well as simulated stalking around varied terrain.
This package offers realistic stalking scenarios, including shots at reactive targets with an experienced Deer Manager who will share insight on the local deer species and management practices.

During this 4 hour experience our expert Deer Managers will guide keen photographers and those wishing to observe and learn about our local wild deer populations.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All our stalking operations are based from Kirnan Estate (PA31 8QL) and the vast majority of our grounds are within 10 miles or less so our customers have minimal transit time. With prior agreement with the stalking team, customers may be collected/dropped from one of our accommodation partners but all carcass repatriation is to our approved larder at Kirnan Estate.
No one person knows everything about deer and deer management and every day we are out in Scotland’s wild environment our team learn something new and want to create opportunities for our customers to absorb, learn and experience deer management in a safe and supportive environment. Our Deer Managers are there to help you maximise your experience and ensure our activities are safe, ethical and align with our management objectives.

All our deer stalking and management activity starts with the requirement for us to assess a customer’s firearms safety and accuracy on our purpose built range at 100m. If you are experienced, new to deer management or seeking to gain experience, our team will guide you through this process and we can supply high quality estate rifles (Sauer), optics (Swarovski) and ammunition for you to use if you do not have your own. If you are joining us for a multi-day trip or specific outings, this assessment must be completed before our Deer Managers will take you after live quarry. This may mean completing the assessment the afternoon before a morning stalk or on the first morning of a multi-day trip.
Wild deer are generally a crepuscular animal - which means they are most active around first, last light and at night.
This impacts the best time for our management activities, with much of our stalking happening aligned to first or last light - in Scotland these timings can vary significant between winter and summer - with summer nights very short. Open hill stalking will often occur during the day as the deer hold on the open ground during daylight hours.
Depending on the season, target species, management plan, and the prevailing weather our Deer Managers will make a plan to maximise the chance of success for a customer.
On the day of the stalking customers will meet at Kirnan Estate or be collected by the Deer Manager from one of our accommodation partners.
Our Kirnan Estate stalking lodge offers a great hub to meet, with plentiful cups of tea/coffee, bacon rolls, snacks and hopefully the odd celebratory dram! We also have lots of information in the lodge, including maps of the stalking grounds and a fridge containing our venison products for customers to take away at the end of their experience.
Customers will be transported by the Deer Managers via vehicle or ATV to the selected stalking areas, some may even walk direct from the lodge.
Once at the stalking area, our Deer Manager will guide the customer through the outing, which typically last around 4 hours, depending on the scenario.
Given the terrain and species we manage, we encourage customers to be physically fit as our stalking will involve covering difficult terrain on foot, often in difficult weather conditions. With prior notice our Deer Managers may be able to accommodate individuals with reduced mobility.
If a shot is taken at a deer our Deer Managers will guide the customer through the recovery and complete the in-field carcass inspection and hill gralloch.
After the stalking, customers will be repatriated to Kirnan Estate or our accommodation partner. Any deer harvested will be extracted by the Deer Manager to our larder for processing. Customers are highly encouraged to assist the Deer Managers with the extraction but every effort will be made to use our ATVs to make this easier!

Stalking Terms & Conditions:
Any booking must be confirmed by Kirnan Estate via email and payment in full within the timelines specified on the invoice. If no payment is received within invoice timelines, then the reservation will be deleted.
If for any reason you are due a refund at the end of your stay, we will pay that amount by bank transfer, with all bank charges to be borne by you.
If a deer other than that selected by the Deer Manager is shot, or a shot is taken by a customer and an animal is wounded or missed and not recovered the trophy or cull price for that animal will be charged in full.
Packaging and transportation of trophies (stag heads/antlers) is wholly the guests responsibility, and should be planned for prior to stalking.
All carcasses and venison is retained by Kirnan Estate but can be purchased at commercial rates or as pre-packed cuts via Kirnan Estate Venison.
If customers are using their own rifle, customers will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid firearms certificate, visitor’s firearms permits (where necessary) and third party insurance. Customers are also responsible for ensuring they comply with the requirements of all firearm regulations and that their rifles and ammunition comply with Scottish legislation for culling wild deer and that provision is made for the safe storage and transportation of firearms.
Use of customer’s own rifles and ammunition will be at the Deer Manager’s discretion, dependent upon the suitability of the rifle and calibre for our stalking conditions, as well as being safe, well maintained and able to hold zero.
At any point in the stalk, the Deer Manager may take over use of the rifle and shooting if it is deemed necessary, especially on animal welfare grounds.
Any rifles used must be fitted with a sound moderator, in order to protect the hearing of both staff and customers.
Extreme weather conditions can occasionally prevent stalking on a particular day. Should the day be cancelled by us, then no charge will be levied. Should the day be cancelled by you, then payment in full will be retained by us.
Whilst we will always aim to fulfil our guests’ expectations, we are dealing with wild animals in remote, rough terrain. Safety of all our guests is of primary importance to us, and we reserve the right to amend plans due to local conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Please note that the Deer Manager’s decision is final with regard to areas to be stalked, routes taken, selection of animal to be shot and at what stage of the day to finish stalking.
In the event of cancellation by Kirnan Estate, all monies paid by you to us will be refunded. No additional payment, whether as compensation or otherwise, will be payable by Kirnan Estate, in respect of our cancellation.
Should you cancel your booking 60 days or more before your arrival date, your payment will be refunded to you less an £80 administration fee. In the event of cancellation by yourselves within 60 days of your arrival date, your payment will not be refundable unless we can replace your booking. If a replacement booking is made, the equivalent amount from your payment will be refunded less an £80 administration fee.
Stalking with Kirnan Estate involves walking on rough and steep terrain. Guests are expected to help with the dragging of carcasses and should be physically fit. If you have any concerns about this, please discuss it with us at the time of booking or if your mobility changes post booking.
Kirnan Estate accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to your personal goods, or for your personal accident or injury, nor do we accept responsibility for any loss or injury resulting from any act or omission by third parties or persons beyond our control. Guests are advised to obtain adequate insurance against personal loss and injury before travelling. We also recommend that you purchase insurance against possible cancellation by you of your holiday.
